Illinois fishermen are among the most active and passionate in the nation and our goal with the 2019 Rock Falls Big Cat Quest Catfishing Tournament is to give them an outlet for this passion. The tournament boundaries will begin at the Rockton Boat Ramp near Rockford, IL, and end at any boat ramp in Rock Island, IL .
In 2017, the tournament had 42 boats and in 2018, 51 boats registered for the tournament. We expect over 60 boats in 2019. We are proud to work with Bo’s Bait & Tackle in their 1st Annual Youth Fishing Extravaganza September 28 from 8AM-11AM.
We have the Rock River. The most sought after of the sport fish in the Rock are the catfish, with both channel catfish and flathead catfish abundant and of trophy size. In fact, the Rock River is one of the best rivers in the state for catching trophy size catfish!
Our advisory board consists of Mark Searing, City of Rock Falls Building Inspector, Mike Doyle owner of Bo’s Bait & Tackle and Megan Horsman, Director of Tourism & Events for the City of Rock Falls Tourism Department, Robbin Blackert, City Administrator, Mayor Bill Wescott, and the members of the Tourism Committee.
Our hope is to continue the fishing tournament in Rock Falls, IL for many years to come.
